Keith Saltojanes

Founder & Head Instructor (Levels 1-3, Internationally)
Improv-LA was founded by award-winning comedian, director, and teacher, Keith Saltojanes.

Keith began his formal study of improvisation over a decade ago while studying at the University of Central Florida Conservatory Theatre and quickly became one of the leading forces in the expansion of the local improv community. He was a founding member of the area’s premiere long form improvisational group, The Derelict Toys, who performed nationwide and were called “One of the best improv troupes from around the country” by the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater. During this time, he became one of the weekly teachers of the popular “Improv Gym” workshop, where students could learn, study, and practice long form improvisation; the only place of its kind in the city.

Once relocating to Los Angeles, Keith studied at iO West, Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, Second City, Pack Theater, and with such great teachers as Charna Halpern, Bob Odenkirk, Susan Messing, Ian Roberts, Kevin McDonald (“Kids In The Hall”), Sam Brown (“Whitest Kids You Know”), Bob Dassie, Craig Cackowski, Ed Greenberg, Heather Anne Campbell and extensively with Miles Stroth, whom he performed with for over a year.

Keith has since performed in literally hundreds of improv, sketch comedy, and house team shows at the UCB Theater (NY & LA), iO West, Second City, the Nerdist Theater, the Groundlings, the Comedy Central Stage, San Francisco Sketchfest, Chicago Improv Fest, and more. He regularly performs with his comedy group, Brute Squad (winners of the 10th Annual Los Angeles Improv Comedy Festival Sketch Competition and Longtime Mainstage House Sketch Team at iO West) and some on-screen credits include Curb Your Enthusiasm, Community, Cougartown, Comedy Central, AMC, and more.

Keith has been teaching improvisers, non-improvisers, actors, comedy groups, and corporate teams the skills of improvisation all over the country and has traveled overseas to teach the first long form improv classes in China, in addition to hosting workshops in Japan, Thailand, Ireland, France, Scotland, and England.
