Intro to Sketch Writing 

Online Group Class Description

This four-week course in the study of sketch comedy writing is perfect for beginners.
Some of the skills the class covers include: 

 

  • Learn to write the different sketch types that exists

  • Experience working in a writers room environment

  • How to turn funny ideas into actual scripts and content

  • Create one-off and recurring sketch pieces/characters for social media

  • Win/Win techniques for pitching your ideas to others
     

No prior writing or comedy experience is necessary.

Class Size: 10 students; everyone will get plenty of playtime and individual attention.

Length: Sessions are 2 hours, and meet for 4 weeks online over Zoom.

NOTE: there will be required writing assignments/deadlines each week

The Teacher: Keith Saltojanes


In addition to Keith's background in improv he also has worked extensively as a writer.

Currently writing for one of the longest-running comedy institutions in the country, National Lampoon, Keith has written and performed
comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, Second City, Groundlings, Comedy Central Stage, multiple international comedy festivals,
and iO West (where he co-created the sketch program and was a member of one of the longest running teams, winners of the Best Sketch
Show in Los Angeles Award).
​Over 100 million people have viewed his original sketch content  online and have been featured by The Huffington Post, Forbes, Funny or Die,
A.V. Club, Buzzfeed, The Chive, and more. Most recently, Keith worked on a new sketch series starring Marlon Wayans, due out next year.

All students will require a free Zoom account, strong internet connection, webcam and mic (built-in is just fine!).
