One-Day: Comedy Writing Intro

Course Description
* Space is limited * New to writing and wondering where to start? This one-day class is a focused, low-pressure way to begin - no experience required. Designed as a first step into our Comedy Writing program, this 2-hour session introduces the creative skills behind sketch comedy writing, without needing to dive into too technical things or homework. In this class, you’ll: - Learn what sketch comedy is (and what it isn’t) and how anyone can do it properly - Get a clear overview of common comedic scene types - How to take ideas from everyday life and turn them into comedic stories to share - Brainstorm simple sketch ideas together - Collaborate as a group to outline script ideas together - How to express your unique sense of humor This class is meant to spark ideas, build confidence, and give you a clear sense of how a full writing class works, without any writing assignments due, while leaving plenty more to explore. Taught by experienced instructors from SNL, Netflix, Marvel Studios, MadTV, National Lampoon,Walt Disney Studios, and more in a supportive, fun environment. One-Day transfers are available only up into 48 hours before class. • One-time mistaken registrations may be refunded within 24 hours, minus a $30 fee. • Natural disasters, local emergencies, or others beyond our control do not qualify for refunds, but transfers will be offered when possible (fee waived). • Missing or being late to 3+ classes means you’ll be removed and not pass the course. Notes are available if you miss up to 2 classes with prior notice. (This applies to repeat student as well) • Instructors may change due to professional commitments. No refunds or transfers are available for instructor changes. • Participation is voluntary and involves inherent risks. You assume full responsibility for your participation, including physical or emotional injury. • We reserve the right to remove students for inappropriate or harmful conduct, with no refund, to maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment. • Harassment, boundary-crossing, or discriminatory behavior will not be tolerated and may result in permanent removal. • Photos or videos may be used in Improv-LA marketing unless you opt out by emailing classes@improv-la.com with your class info. • Coupon codes must be applied at checkout and cannot be added retroactively.
